At the Church on the Hill we seek to build faith and build community - both really matter to us! We’re a growing church, full of ordinary people, from all walks of life, doing life together. We’re a place where children are truly welcome (noise and all!) and where everyone can explore faith at their own pace. We gather at 10:30 am for a relaxed, family friendly time of worship with age appropriate ministry groups during the service for all ages. Whether you’re new to the area, exploring faith for the first time, returning after a break, or simply looking for a welcoming community to belong to we would love to see you. You don’t need to dress a certain way, struggle to keep the children quiet or know when to sit or stand. You just need to come as you are - you will be so welcome! join us this Sunday 10.30am Our Sunday morning service is relaxed, informal, and suitable for all ages. A typical service includes worship through music, prayer, Bible teaching, and time to reflect together. Services usually last around 50 - 60 minutes and afterwards many people stay for tea, coffee, and fellowship. Whether it's your first visit or your hundredth, we'd love to see you. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT? Come as you are We know visiting somewhere new can feel intimidating, so we've tried to make things as simple as possible. You won't be singled out or put on the spot. You'll be greeted at the door by our welcome team and helped find a seat if needed. There is no dress code some people come in jeans and trainers, while others prefer something more formal. Simply come as you are. your first visit Arrive before 10:30am. You'll be welcomed by one of our welcome team. Enjoy the service at your own pace. Stay afterwards for tea, coffee, and a chat. CHILDREN & FAMILIES Children are a valued and important part of church life at Church on the Hill. We encourage children of all ages to join us for the first part of the service (and be as noisy as they wish) before moving into age-appropriate groups designed specifically for them. Our children's ministry provides a safe, fun, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and build friendships. Babies & toddlers are welcome to remain with their parents in the hall. There are tables at the back with picture books, colouring, play-doh and jigsaws but you are also welcome to bring your favourite quiet toys & snacks to help your little one feel relaxed. We understand that sometimes little legs need to burn off some steam so you are welcome to pop out to the welcome area at any time where you can still hear the sermon but there's plenty of space for toddlers to run safely. SEN friendly bags are available at the door with noise reducing headphones, fidget toys etc. just ask a steward at the door if you would find one useful. Children and families are always welcome. ABOUT US We are a Church of Ireland - Methodist Covenant congregation but our church family is made up of people from all church backgrounds and none! We are, at heart, a church family who love God and seek to serve Him as together, we build faith and community here in the village of Maghaberry. Families are a huge part of life at the Church on the Hill and children are genuinely welcome in our Sunday services – noise, wiggles & all! Children usually begin the service with their families, before heading out part-way through to COTH Kids, COTH Junior & COTH Youth, where they can learn, create, and explore faith in away that’s engaging, fun, relaxed and age-appropriate. For babies & toddlers there is a dedicated area at the back of the church with playdoh, books, jigsaws etc so little people can keep their hands busy while we worship together. Alongside Sunday mornings, we also run various events and activities throughout the year to connect with the wider community and share the love of Jesus in practical ways. Whos who? We believe that everyone should feel safe and have a voice. We have fully adoped the child protection guidelines of the Methodist Church in Ireland (MCI). Groups provide opportunities to grow in faith, build lasting friendships and become part of a supportive community. Whether you're a parent with young children, a teenager, or looking to connect with others through Bible study or fellowship, there's a place for you. Boys' brigade Thursday Nights Anchor boys (p1 - P4) 6.30 - 7.30pm A fun introduction to Boys' Brigade through games, stories, crafts and activities designed especially for younger boys. Junior section (p5 - P7) 7.30 - 8.30pm A varied programme of team games, challenges, badge work and practical activities that encourage teamwork, responsibility and confidence. Company section (Year 8+) 8.30 - 9.30PM Designed for older boys, with activities that encourage leadership, personal development, service and deeper exploration of the Christian faith. The Boys' Brigade has been helping boys develop confidence, character and faith for generations. Through a varied programme of games, sports, challenges, crafts, badges and Bible teaching, boys are encouraged to grow physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually in a fun and supportive environment. Every evening includes activities designed for each age group, opportunities to build friendships, learn new skills and explore the Christian faith. Juniors (p5 - P7) / Seniors & Brigaders (Year 8+) 7.30 - 8.30pm Girls enjoy a range of activities that encourage teamwork, creativity and personal development while growing in their faith. Older girls have opportunities to develop leadership skills, build meaningful friendships and explore what it means to live out their Christian faith. Girls' Brigade provides a welcoming environment where girls can have fun, make friends, discover their talents and grow in confidence while learning about God's love. Our programme includes games, crafts, music, badge work, creative activities, Bible teaching and opportunities to serve others, all within a safe and caring environment. Each relaxed session lasts around an hour and includes singing favourite nursery rhymes, action songs, simple instruments and plenty of opportunities for little ones to play and interact. After the music, everyone enjoys homemade treats, tea and coffee while children continue to play. It's a great opportunity to meet other local families, build friendships and enjoy a welcoming community atmosphere. Every Sunday, our dedicated team provides fun, engaging and age-appropriate programmes where young people can learn about Jesus, ask questions, make friends and grow in their faith. All leaders are committed to providing a safe, caring and encouraging environment, following the safeguarding policies of the Methodist Church in Ireland. COTH Kids (Nursery – P5) Children enjoy Bible stories, worship, games, crafts, memory verses and interactive activities designed to help them discover God's love in an exciting and memorable way. COTH Junior (P6 – Year 8) As children grow, sessions encourage discussion, teamwork and practical application of biblical teaching while helping them build strong friendships. COTH Youth (Year 9 – Year 12) Our youth group provides a welcoming place where teenagers can explore life's big questions, deepen their faith, support one another and discover how following Jesus impacts everyday life. Badminton Group Wednesday Evenings The badminton group combines exercise, friendship and plenty of laughter. It's a relaxed evening where people of all abilities can enjoy the game, meet others and keep active. Whether you've played for years or have never picked up a racket before, you'll be made to feel at home.
